Focus is the first step in a Coaching session. It is where the Coach looks for cues that indicate what the problem is and what that person wants to achieve. Focus is a Research, it is where the Coach can understand what the Coachee is asking him. We can find two elements:

  1. Request: why is the Coachee asking help for? What does he need? What is the problem?
  2. Desires: all personal goals are elements of a persons Desires. What do you want?

If you would start a Coaching session today, what would the Focus? What would be your request towards your Coach?

Sometimes a person doesn’t know what is the problem, so usually in these cases a Coach starts asking general question investigating on a persons life. He can discover detailssuch as: what he/she likes reading, passions, hobbies, details of his job, the people he meets, what he likes and what he doesn’t. All these details are cues that can indicate where the problem is.

The Focus is a story that the person tells the Coach and that is full of details. In this phase the Coachee speaks for 80% of the time. The next phase is the discovery of the persons positive qualities. Already in our Coachees’s story we can discoer his qualities, but there is also a simple test you can do that will help you understand what are your the qualities that make you who you are.

If you want to do the test, contact me filling in the form in the contact page.
